Kids aren't meant to cooperate with a formal photo shoot. And that's my absolute FAVOURITE part of childhood portraiture! Some of the best photographs you'll ever capture of a child are unposed, on their terms: exploring the world around them, peering hard for the infamous "rainbow" in my camera lens, or playing peekaboo from behind a tree. I always tell parents: your kids are in charge today. If all my days are spent chasing after children in the golden light of the prairies, I'll have lived my best life!
